Fintech for Health India webinar: Challenges and way forward in enabling affordable health financing options through fintech solutions in India

On July 3rd, a webinar addressing how to enable affordable health financing options through fintech solutions in India was hosted by ACCESS Health International Southeast Asia.

In India, 62 percent of people spend out-of-pocket for their healthcare and 47 percent of rural households took loans and sale of assets to meet their health needs. The fintech industry has demonstrated the power of digital transformation to reach underserved and remote communities. Additionally, through innovative financing mechanisms, the industry has the ability to address the rising burden of healthcare expenditure. Through this discussion, panelists defined the populations most at risk, discussed the affordability challenges and lack of access to high-quality healthcare services experienced by these groups, and highlighted the important role fintech can have in reaching those most burdened.
